Use in manuscripts
Disclose substantive use of generative AI in the research or preparation of a manuscript, including the tool, purpose and relevant extent of use. Authors remain responsible for the accuracy of claims, citations, code and analysis. Verify every reference and respect the rights and confidentiality of others. Routine spelling or grammar assistance need not be described as authorship.
Methods and synthetic material
Where AI is part of the research method, describe the model or system, version or access date, prompts or configuration needed to understand the method, validation and relevant limitations. Clearly identify generated or simulated material. Do not present invented people, quotations, observations or data as authentic evidence.
Use during review
Editors and reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts or identifying review material into an external AI service without an appropriate authorization and confidentiality basis. Automated assistance may support routine checks, but a human editor remains responsible for the scholarly decision. AI must not be listed as an author or reviewer.
